Meadville Community Theatre is proud to present Cabaret Night: Music and Motherhood, an intimate, concert-style performance held from May 9 at 7:30pm and May 10 at 2:00pm at the Penny Smith Theater, 114 Cussewago Square, Meadville, PA. Tickets are $16.00 for adults, $14.00 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at mctbackstage.com/tickets, by calling 814-333-1773, or by going to the Box Office at 118 Cussewago Square, next to the Penny Smith Theater, Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Part of the theater’s “Created Locally” programming, this special cabaret is directed by local artist Kaleigh White and features a talented lineup of community performers. The evening will showcase a thoughtfully curated selection of songs spanning decades—from the 1960s to contemporary works written as recently as 2024—creating a rich and varied musical experience.

Through this diverse repertoire, Cabaret Night: Music and Motherhood explores the many dimensions of motherhood, including pride, frustration, confusion, and melancholy, all woven together with an underlying message of love.

“Whether someone is a mother or not, all ages and all walks of life can appreciate the message that is being portrayed here: motherhood is complicated, but oh so beautiful,” said director Kaleigh White.

Please join us in welcoming the cast of this inaugural cabaret night:

Shawna Daisley, Shelly Schuster, Marie Matthews, Melissa Bivens, Tabitha Manross, Abby Stine, Jessie Rhoades, Casey Walowitz, Nyx Scott, Riley Sheehan-Kohler, Tom Hall, Melissa Hoople, Dan Ward, Jared Jones.

In addition to musical performances, the production also highlights original work from members of the community. Cast member Marie Matthews shared her personal connection to the show: “I noticed the audition flyer for Music and Motherhood when I was bringing my daughter to her rehearsals for Shivers, another fine MCT production. When I looked at the details, there was a call for original poetry for the show. I immediately thought of this simple little song I had written for my daughter. I submitted the song and now am part of the production. It’s going to be a really nice show and I’m glad to be a part of it.”

With a focus on showcasing local talent, Cabaret Night: Music and Motherhood highlights the voices and stories within the Meadville community, offering an evening that is both entertaining and deeply meaningful.

Audiences are invited to enjoy a night of music that resonates across generations in a warm and welcoming setting.
