Audition: Cabaret Night
Cabaret Night: Music and Motherhood
Directed by Kaleigh White
Show Dates: May 9 & 10, 2026
Open Call: This show will potentially contain some more adult themes; therefore, this call is for performers over 18.
Please attend one of the following:
Sunday, February 22, 1:00pm-3:00pm
Thursday, February 26, 6:00pm-8:00pmLocation: Penny Smith Theater, 114 Cussewago Square, Meadville, PA. Please enter from the east parking lot entrance.
Audition Details: This will be a performance consisting of songs that highlight different aspects of motherhood with interspersed narrations. There is also room for people to perform original poetry, monologues, or other material that fits the theme of “motherhood.” Please prepare a 32-bar audition cut, preferably of a musical theater song. Ultimately, you should pick a song that showcases your range and performance ability. Backing tracks are not required, but encouraged. If you are interested in performing an original poem/monologue/etc, please prepare a short monologue of any style you feel is fitting. If you are unable to make it to the scheduled audition times, please reach out to kaleighjeanwhite@gmail.com to make arrangements to audition.
Show Details: The song list is not set in stone. The audition form contains a preliminary song list; however, the show will ideally be a collaborative effort between the cast and the director. On the audition form, you will be asked to circle any roles you would be interested in performing, as well as what sort of role you are willing to accept (solo, duet, group song, supporting, ensemble, spoken, etc). There will also be a space for suggestions; all suggestions will be considered. This will also be a space to let the director know if you are interested in performing an original piece.
Rehearsal Information: Rehearsals will begin in March. Please list ALL currently known conflicts on the calendar. The director has a very open schedule, and will be making a detailed calendar that has very specific call days; rehearsals will not consist of the entire cast until mid April. Instead, rehearsals will consist of songs for certain people based on their availability and their scene partner(s) availability. In other words, it will be flexible. Performers are asked to be aware there will be plentiful in-person rehearsals scheduled, but will also be expected to rehearse on their own between their call days.
