Our last season in the Odd Fellows building is over, and we are looking towards a bright future at “the Penny” in Cussewago Square. If you’ll be in town, please join us on Saturday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m., for our final fond farewell of songs, skits, and reminiscences to the Odd Fellows Building Theater space.
We are excited about our new space, the Penny Smith Theater, in the Cussewago Square development between Race and Spring Streets (the former Race Street Lumber). We, the French Creek Community Theatre, and other community organizations and businesses will all be located there. It promises to be an exciting cultural hub for the Meadville area.
As always, we value your support. This year, however, we need it more than ever. RAN Investments, headed by Rob and Nancy Smith, is generously creating the spaces we will be using. However, we will need to equip the buildings from scratch, with new lighting, seating, staging, audio equipment, and more. We’ve been saving money for a number of years to help support this effort, but we will need every dollar that our community can contribute to make the theater into the sparkling new venue that we plan it to be.
Our season starts with Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” (female version) opening October 3, 2025. We’re including everything that makes MCT special: new works by Brenna Thummler and Geoff Hall, little known gems “Pick Your Poison” and “Almost, Maine,” and a Cabaret Night for Mother’s Day.
So please contribute to us as you do every year to support this coming season, which you’ll find on our web site (www.mctbackstage.com). But if you can, please contribute even more to help us make the transition to Cussewago Square. We will accept all donations, from the smallest amounts to the largest!
Please make your donations through Crawford Gives on August 12-15, 2025. By donating to MCT through Crawford Gives, you not only earn the benefits and rewards of being an MCT member, but you see a percentage of your donation matched by the Crawford County Heritage Foundation.
Meadville Community Theatre is part of the heart of our community. We thank you in advance for your dedication to helping us thrive.
