The Meadville Community Theatre is thriving with opportunity for students who are interested in the performing arts to learn about their craft among trained professionals as well as dedicated community members.

Directors, counselors and mentors of any teen/youth program at the Meadville Community Theatre have had past experience either on a professional scale, or have achieved an educational degree in their preferred theatrical focus.  Some of our credits include: Edinboro University, Missoula Children's Theatre, Station Dinner Theatre, Second City Comedy Club, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, local educational instructors and many more special guest appearances throughout the season.

Opportunities 2009-2010

Due to the abundance of students interested in studying the performing arts, the Meadville Community Theatre has developed a summer acting intensive, under the direction of Jessica J. Surdyk, to offer to such individuals.  This intensive got its name for a reason.  The expectations are higher, and the training is on a whole different spectrum.  Participants are thrown into the world of a professional audition.  They are taught what to expect, how to handle “on the spot” requests and of course, the actual audition. Students will work with trained professionals in developing a personal repertoire of monologues and skits to use throughout their careers.   Classes run every Tuesday and Sunday during the month of August. Students must at least be entering 10th grade the proceeding school year.
